Life is too short not to laugh hard every Friday. This week I thought it would be funny if I sent my producer down to the So You Think You Can Dance auditions in Atlanta to see if he could make it on the show. I figured at the very least, it would be hilarious. He did not disappoint. Watch him try his best against some tough competition!

With a failed marriage lasting just over two months and rumors of his ex wife hanging out with Reggie Bush we really didn’t things could get much worse for Kris Humphries. Unfortunately, they did when he met Blake Griffin in the paint. To add insult to injury, it was done in front of a packed Clippers Arena. Dr. King has always been one of my heroes and a great inspiration in my own life. He was the ultimate example of someone who had a distinct dream and gave his life to see his vision take place. When I am down or wonder if I am on the correct path I often remember what Dr. King was able to accomplish starting as a grassroots movement.

We have much to think about on this day of remembrance. Dr. King allowed us to have the luxury to live in this great world we have today. Dr. King will never be forgotten. Thank you Dr. King for helping make our world a better place!

My favorite quote from Dr. King: “Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.”

I used to be guilty of being late to almost everything I did. After talking to several close friends and family members about my lateness issues, I finally realized that I was starting to hurt the people that I care about the most. While I believed I was late because of schedule constraints, my friends and family took it to mean that I would rather be somewhere else.

I knew this pattern had to stop so I called my good friend Dr. Joyce, relationship expert, to help me understand why I was psychologically doing this to myself. Was there something I was trying to avoid and that was why I was always late? Check out what she had to say!

I heard from one of my “workout-aholic” friends that this year 38% of people said that they wanted to lose weight as their New Years Resolution. I started to do some research and also found that most people believe that weight loss comes primarily from working out. I quickly found out that this is often not the case. It is actually just as important, if not more important, to eat right. Also, drinking water is the number one thing that can help with weight loss!

I was shocked by these new developments. I have always been guilty of killing myself during workouts but then not eating the best after. I figured I had worked off the calories while busting it in the gym. So, I asked our resident health guru Mark Macdonald to share some of his workout secrets with us. Check it out!

The concept of the hit television show The Bachelor is almost every guys fantasy. You have 26 women who are all good looking and spend weeks fighting over you, I mean come on! Now, I realize that we are all addicted to shows that have “drama” because every hit show out there features it. The thing that has amazed me about this show recently is how the media is responding to Ben Flajnik’s actions. Outlets like E! and People grill Ben every day for the way that he deals with the girls and for “hooking up” with many of them. My question to you is, didn’t we set him up for this?

The media keeps saying that “Ben isn’t a good guy” and publicizing how many people he kissed during the show. This leads me to ask two questions. First, is this show about finding true love or is it for the entertainment of seeing people hook up on camera and the drama it ensues between hopelessly romantic girls? Second, what do we want as viewers? If we saw Ben refuse to kiss girls on set and wait until he had gotten to know them better the media would grill him for being soft. Can the dude win either way?

Finally and most importantly, can a show like The Bachelor really help someone find true love? I personally don’t think highly publicized weddings work out. My reasons for saying this, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and that The Bachelor weddings never last longer than a few months. Here is an exclusive interview I did with Ben. I leave it for you to decide if he is a good guy or not.

The top trending topic on Twitter right now is Casey Anthony. Are you joking me? I thought we were done with her! She became a major topic of conversation when her trial started but I really hoped that when it ended we could all forget about her. Her walking was bad enough! Now, her video blog has been “leaked” to mainstream media and people are talking about her again. Are you joking me? Either she hired marketing geniuses at Saatchi & Saatchi to keep her “hip and topical” or we really are a sick group that worship people like her.

Let’s start from my first concern. How can someone who was accused of child murder and be considered a pop icon? It really says something about our society when this type of person can write a video blog and millions of people talk about it. It is also amazing that something like this that should be moderately interesting news at most, makes it to every media outlet because it was published by Casey Anthony. Check out the four minute video, it is boring and not at all news worthy! Can people not see how she is using her trial to make her famous? How sick is that? You tell me: how can someone accused of murder become a pop icon and what does this say about our society?

It is 2012 and time to get in great shape! I asked our resident fitness expert, Mark Macdonald, to help me come up with some great exercises for our viewers. This is a great one that everyone can do and it can easily be done right at home. It only takes a few minutes. Check it out!

Many people know of the Turner name though his work developing his media empire, Turner Broadcasting. But many people do not know what drove this man to becoming one of the most visionary media leaders of our time. I had the opportunity to talk to Ted this past weekend at his annual event, The Captain Planet Foundation Annual Gala. Not only was I surprised at Ted’s work with Turner Broadcasting but I couldn’t believe that he had also created the environmental cartoon series Captain Planet, which inspired him to start his charitable foundation “The Captain Planet Foundation.”

Ted Turner took over his father’s advertising business (focused on billboards) after his father committed suicide. At the time, Ted was only 24 years old. Ted decided that the business was a great avenue to get a healthy revenue stream and that he would use the excess capital to invest in different areas of media. Turner next bought a series of radio stations in the South. After a few years of turing those into a healthy profit, he sold them to buy his first TV station in Atlanta, GA. From here Turner made a deal with some students from MIT and got his programming on one of the first satellites and the rest is history.

Deciding he wanted to give back, Ted Turner established the Captain Planet Foundation. He felt that though all his success, he wanted give back to the community. His charity and TV program, Captain Planet, were his way of helping future generations understand the importance of a clean environment. His charity has helped countless people and his TV show became the voice of a younger generation.

Ted Turner has helped transform the way we watch media. He is a great example of someone who created an empire and decided to give back to the community.

It has been long debated between scientists whether nature or nurture is the prime factor in the person we become. Like a lot of scientists, I believe there is a healthy mixture of both. I bring this up because I recently had the opportunity to interview personal finance expert Suze Orman about how her upbringing shaped her career. Going into the interview, I knew of Orman’s television show and her tremendous talent but didn’t know where her drive to become the world’s best financial advisor had come from. I assumed that she was born with the talents to succeed in this field.

Orman told me that when she was a little girl she came from a poor family that sold some of the goods from their farm in a small store. She explained that most of the family’s money was in a metal cash register that sat in their store. Orman explained that her drive to help others with financial problems occurred when she was a young girl and the store caught on fire. The cash register was inside and it held all the money that her family would use to eat for the next week. Her father, without a second thought, ran into the store and picked up the red hot register. Subsequently, he got second and third degree burns on his arms and chest. This was all so that his family could eat for the next week. It was at this moment that Orman decided that she would never be in this position again. She wanted to control her finances so that her family would never have to suffer in this way again.

Whether it is nature or nurture that decides how you grow into the person you are destined to become, it is always import to recognize why people do what they do. Whether it is a defining moment or a series of events, we need to always strive to achieve our dreams. Orman achieved her dreams because she was determined to find a better life. It is important to decide what we want to achieve and to follow it. Dreams and hopes are what keep us going. As Langston Huges Wrote in his famous poem Dreams “Hold fast to dreams, For if dreams die, Life is a broken-winged bird, That cannot fly.”

One of my favorite interviews recently was with hip hop mogul T-Pain. T-Pain conveyed his philosophy on life and following your dreams that really hit home with me. T-Pain stated, “I grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. Most people who grow up in Tallahassee never leave but I was determined to make it. I went outside my comfort zone and made it happen.” T-Pain’s vision and unique style quickly launched him to the top of the Billboard charts. After a few months on the scene, T-Pain was a Gold and Platinum selling artist. Though T-Pain has amazing talent, his values still hold true to everybody.

I think a lot of us, myself included, get so bogged down in our day to day lives that we start to feel content. We decide that where we are and what we have accomplished is good enough. Unfortunately, we forget our inner child (that little guy or girl that wanted to reach for the stars and become amazing) and become happy with mediocrity. We are simply content with being ok at what we do. T-Pain made me realize that to truly achieve success, we need to never rest on our laurels. We need to constantly grow and always strive to be better than we were the day before. When we are content, our competitors over come us.

T-Pain’s final words will continue to ring true for me, “You don’t have to get approval from anybody. Do what you want to do. Don’t try to be anyone else. Do what you want to do! If I had listened to everyone who was giving me advice, I wouldn’t be here right now.” From now on I am going to have a new philosophy, “Better every day.” I want to take pride in everything I do an continue to grow both personally and professionally. Thank you T-Pain for helping me see the light!

I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who has helped me over the past few years. The guidance from my friends, family members, and coworkers has always kept me going. I have had a tremendous amount of support. I am setting out to forever change the entertainment business and with every new Facebook and Twitter follower, I am closer to maintaining my goal. Thank you again everybody! I could not be where I am without you!

I have to admit that I have been feeling a little down lately and was not quite ready to celebrate Christmas. It is often during these times that I remember back to childhood and the magic that I used to get when December 1st hit the air. My mother used to get me an advent calendar and I would open each little window in excitement to see what the picture of the day was. It was a time when I would wake up early and sprint downstairs to be the first person to open my presents.

As I started to grew older, Christmas started to lose it’s luster. I remember that each year it started to become more and more like any other day. After years of floating by, I decided I needed to get myself back in the holiday spirit.

Last weekend I had the great fortune to be invited to go to the world premiere of An Elf’s Story which was adapted from the award winning book The Elf On The Shelf. I approached the event with apprehension, thinking it would not help my midwinter blues, but was amazed at the crowd of excited kids. As I started to interview people, I began to feel more and more like I was back in my childhood. It was an amazing event and I am now ready for Christmas! Thank you to all the celebrities and families that attended for getting me back into the spirit of Christmas! Who knows what is next, maybe I’ll be Santa Conn (Thanks Matt Manasse)!

The first man I would like to feature is Yo-Yo Ma. Though Yo-Yo might not be a pop icon, he is arguably the best cello player to ever live. I had a great fortune to meet Yo-Yo while doing an interview in NYC. Yo-Yo was one of the most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I was convinced he has an amazing person when I turned around after the interview to see him deep in conversation with two of my employees. He spent 15 minutes talking to them and never once mentioned his personal accomplishments. He truly wanted to know what made his fans tick.

The second person I would like to extend a hearty thank you to is Jackson Rathbone, star of Twilight. I was covering a red carpet event for the new Twilight movie in Atlanta when I had the opportunity to interview Jackson. Just before I extended the mic towards him, he told me, “Hold on a second Conn, I need to say hi to my fans.” Jackson proceeded to hop into the media pit and take pictures with about 75 different people and spent twenty minutes talking to the group. This made my jaw drop!

Finally, I would like to recognize Javier Colon winner of The Voice for his continued support to his fans. At the same Twilight red carpet, Javier decided to come along to not only support his friend who was singing at the premier but also to connect with some of his fans. I witnessed Javier bypass all the media to hop into the crowd to take pictures with his most loyal followers. He didn’t want media attention, Javier simply wanted to recognize the people who helped him become a star.

All three of these men have impressed me enormously. They come from different walks of life and have different professions. However, they do all have one thing in common though. They all stated that, “I would be nothing without my fans.” Salute to you Yo-Yo Ma, Jackson Rathbone, and Javier Colon. You among the elite, you are a few good men!

A few weeks ago I had the distinct honor of being the MC at the March Of Dimes Nurse Of The Year Awards in Atlanta, GA. It was a fun filled night and an amazing time to recognize all those who make a difference in the medical world. Thank you to everyone who made this years award show possible and congratulations to all of those who were honored at this event! Being there was one of the most memorable and inspirational moments of my year!

Last Friday, my field reporter Pence Wiant had the opportunity to cover 11 Alive and Salvation Army’s 29th Annual Can-A-Thon, at Turner Field. This event raised millions of cans of food to feed the homeless around Atlanta and featured 5 different drop off spots to make it easier for people to donate. The event helps raise most of the food for the year for the Salvation Army. It was a fun-filled day and an amazing event to be a part of! A very special thanks to 11 Alive for sending out their on air personalities to help raise awareness! It was truly a success!

Even though he is currently on tour of over 40 cities in America, I was able to catch famed songwriter and pianist, Jim Brickman, long enough to listen to him play and ask about his inspirations.

Brickman was introduced to piano at the young age of five, even though no one else in his family had been musically inclined. Something about the piano attracted him to music, whether he saw a piano at a friend’s house, or the plastic keys on a keyboard, he knew he wanted to play.

I asked about his creative process and must admit his song writing methods really surprised me. Brickman explained his songs grow from concepts he wants to write about, and often titles the song before any words are written. I thought this seemed backwards until he explained the writing process behind his song, Gift. His work is wonderful to listen to and is a perfect way to relax during this busy time of year.

It was wonderful speaking with Jim, he is a really great guy and such a talented musician!

If you didn’t catch the Grammy nomination concert last night, here’s some highlights of what you missed.

Rapper Ludacris and country signer Jason Aldean performed a duet to Dirt Road Anthem. I have to say I loved seeing Luda go country, it was definitely unexpected and he wasn’t the only one experimenting musically as Aldean attempted some rapping as well!

The Band Perry, nominated for Best New Artist, performed a melody of their own song, Independence and Tom Petty’s Freefalling, to a screaming audience, showcasing their outstanding musical talent. While all the performances were tremendous everyone was excited to hear the nominations.

The awards categories have been streamlined and this year there will be 31 fewer Grammys than last year, 78 in total. Kanye West received the greatest number of nominations, seven in total with only one of the seven not in the rap genre. Adele and the Foo Fighters racked up six each, followed by Skrillex and Lil Wayne who each received five nominations.

It’s no surprise that the show is a huge success each and every year as the world tunes in to watch seasoned supermodels such as Miranda Kerr, Chanel Iman, and Rosie Huntington-Whitely walk the runway in wings.

Aside from top models, the audience was star studded with celebrities Beyoncé, Russel Simmons, Orlando Bloom and Donna Karen in attendance.

Not only is Victoria’s Secret successful on the runway, but their business is growing as they very recently opened their first store in Puerto Rico, just in time for the Holidays!

Turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce may be staples of the Thanksgiving meal, but spending time with family and friends is what the holiday is truly all about. Regardless of what you serve, if you cook or order in, it’s important to take the time to be thankful.

As soon as the clock struck twelve, or in some cases earlier, sentimental feelings transformed into excitement as the first Black Friday sales began. Customers went wild, waiting in line for hours, as stores such as Best Buy offered 10-30% off some of the newest HDTVs, and numerous retailers held unprecedented markdowns and opened as early as 6am. Shoppers spent $52.4 billion dollars over the four-day weekend, up from $45 billion last year.

Maybe our economy isn’t doing so bad?

Some say the increase in revenue from this holiday weekend is a result of the extended hours and never before seen deals. As someone who braved the stores on Black Friday I can attest to the crowds, and long lines at checkout.

As we all get back to work this week, and our memories of sweet pumpkin pie fade away, I realized that though I snagged some great deals, I somehow managed not to buy one gift on my list. I guess it’s back to the stores for me, though as usual I’m sure I’ll be begging stores not to close on December 24th as I finish up my holiday shopping.

The ladies do more than perform in reality TV and cheer on the Falcons, they give back to our country. This past June they spent two weeks on a tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean with troops who had recently left Afghanistan and Iraq.

Turns out there are celebrity role models out there! Not only did the young country sensation win entertainer of the year at the CMAs last night but this sweet country girl has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to various charities and schools across the country. She even bought her parents a 2.5 million dollar home in historic Nashville to thank them for supporting her in her love of music, what a great gift for Mom and Dad!

Asides from being the adorable pop star we all love, Swift is multitalented, stepping out of her pop-country niche Sunday night during her Atlanta show singing a duet with rapper T.I. to his hit “Live Your Life.” And let me tell you, boy was that fun to watch!

Swift surprises us everyday, and I can’t wait to see what she’s up to next!

Last night I saw the Twilight cast take a few minutes to really appreciate their fans. Specifically, Jackson Rathbone and Nikki Reed did a great job of interacting with their followers. As Jackson was walking the red carpet, he decided before he did a single interview that he had to show some love to his eagerly waiting fans. Jackson hopped into the media pit and signed autographs with everyone waiting. He took many pictures and even kissed a few cheeks. I had never seen a star act this way. It was refreshing. Nikki Reed also took some time to catch up with her fans.

The highlight of the night was going inside to get some final shots of the festivities and to hear a little girl tell her mom that she had not only met Jackson Rathbone but also he had signed an autograph for her. She told her mom, “This has been the best night of my life.” Thanks Twilight cast! You have shown us that celebrities are real people too!

Yesterday I caught up with Seth Rogen and Will Reiser to hear about their upcoming comedy-drama 50/50 which is loosely based on Reiser’s life. He was diagnosed with cancer six years ago when he and Rogen were working together on Da Ali G Show. Though Rogen admits not all life events make for a movie, this story was film worthy and I definitely agree.

The two were worried about the audience’s reaction to their film when screening 50/50 to over 250 cancer survivors and patients at the LIVESTRONG foundation. But there was no need to be concerned as they received a standing ovation and an enormous amount of appreciation from the viewers.

Turns out laughter truly is the best medicine!

While Kim Kardashian and Kris Hmumphries had the fairytale wedding every young girl can only dream of, as you may know their marriage ended yesterday after only 72 days.

There were plenty of red flags the marriage wouldn’t last. For starters Kim wanted to keep her own last name, and the NBA lockout couldn’t have helped the growing stress on their relationship. Us Weekly reports Kim was tired of paying for her husband’s partying habits while he’s not working. Humphries even hired a publicist this weekend before the split to improve his image… prophesying a possible misstep?

One has to wonder, were they ever truly in love? They earned $100,000 from Us Weekly for photos of their Honeymoon to Italy, and were paid $1.5 million by People magazine for their wedding photos. While most weddings are about spending big bucks, for Kardashian and Humphries their wedding was a big payday.

Too add to the publicity Kardashian wore a 20.5-carat ring that should have cost $3million, but it was bought at a deep discount. Therefore, it’s no surprise she was adorned with the LA designer’s jewelry on her wedding day, including a headpiece, earrings, and wedding band.

To add to the list of surprises in the past 72 days, Kris Humphries claims he was shocked by the divorce, which adds just another dramatic angle to the whole ordeal making their marriage more intriguing to the public.

There are numerous celebrity couples whose marriage didn’t last three years. Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney, Pamela Anderson and Kris Rock, Drew Barrymore and Jeremy Thomas, and that’s only a few. Is Hollywood to blame or is celebrity marriage just a big publicity stunt?

Unfortunately the couple didn’t live happily ever after, maybe the media is to blame, and maybe it’s living in the spotlight, either way we’re sad to see it end.

I recently got to catch up with Kirstin Chenoweth and hear all about how she got started on her path to stardom. She is such a lovely woman, and so beautiful!

Asides from being on Glee, the Oklahoma native sang opera and gospel music as a child before deciding to hit Broadway in productions including Wicked, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. She’s even had credits in film and television as well!

Chenoweth has won numerous Emmys and stared in the film remake of the 1960’s hit series Bewitched. She has true talent and is someone we can all look up to.

Mark Salling is more than just a pretty face on the hit series Glee. He is our Hollywood star of the week, making a difference by teaming up with ConAgra Foods in their campaign to end childhood hunger.

With Halloween on the horizon and fast approaching I figured I should probably come up with a costume, and fast. A monster? A ghost? Maybe Rafael Nadal? I could carry a tennis racquet, and the ladies would all be after me all night!

I began my search for costume ideas online and somehow stumbled across Halloween pets.

This trend has hit Hollywood with Paris Hilton, Alissa Milano and Mischa Barton among the many celebrities who dress up their pets for the holiday. Paris’s pup is dressed as a duck, and Milano’s as Peter Pan.

Clearly I got distracted from finding a costume for myself when I discovered a woman’s whole livelihood has resulted from the infatuation of dressing up our pets. Ada Nieves has created a whole clothing line for small dogs and even rats! Her pet clothing line is based off of actual outfits celebrities have worn including Madonna, Christina Aguilera, and Brittany Spears. There are even tuxedos and gowns, if a fancy event is coming up and you want your pet to be dressed as swanky as you.

If pets can now have better costumes than me, I really do need to step up my game this year.

As the weather starts to get colder and the leaves begin to fall, I always start to feel a bit sentimental. Maybe it is because it is officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month or maybe the colder weather really does effect my mood. In any event, it is awesome to recognize the people and events in my life that really do make a huge difference.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend one of my favorite events of the year, Jazzoo, at the Atlanta Zoo. Not only did I have the opportunity to get some amazing footage but I also had the chance to reconnect with some of my best friends. Jazzoo is always an amazing night and the hosting committee always does a great job. I owe a special thanks to my friend and Jazzoo contact, Jason Heslep, for making this a memorable event. The food was amazing, the band was fantastic, and the drinks were delicious. Jazzoo was a perfect way to chase my fall blues away and remind me why my friends are so special to me.

Thanks Jason and the rest of the Jazzoo staff. I can’t wait to see you all again next year!

I went backstage with Ludacris over the weekend and hung out with him before his sing-off with the Neon Trees. The night was sure to be a success and was a great time to let loose! Ludacris was excited for the competition. I wonder if I could have challenged him to a rap battle…

Ludacris believes with greatness comes great responsibility, and after having brought 1,000 kids to the Braves game a few days earlier he is certainly giving back and showing his love for Atlanta, the city that has loves him as well.

While showing my support at the Susan G. Komen 3 Day 60-mile race for the cure in Atlanta, I saw how passionate the participants were and couldn’t help but go home and learn more.

12% of women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifetime, and the disease doesn’t discriminate. Celebrities such as Cynthia Nixon, Sheryl Crow, Kylie Minogue, and very recently Guilana Ranci have all been diagnosed.

Going public with her breast cancer diagnosis yesterday, Guiliana Rancic hopes she can inspire and perhaps educate ladies about the importance of regular breast exams. Like many women waiting on mammogram results the 36-year-old never in her “wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong.”

We all have mothers, sisters, aunts, and friends we care deeply about and news of breast cancer diagnosis would be devastating.

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day takes place in cities across America from Boston to San Diego. Designers such as Tory Burch and Ralph Lauren are donating proceeds from special pink products to breast cancer research and even professional football teams such as the Dallas Cowboys are showing support by wearing pink on their cleats, towels and wristbands.

Like many of us out there I’m always late. No matter how hard I try, or how badly I want to be on time, I still end up falling behind schedule. Lucky for me, the “Love Doctor” was around to fill me in on what my chronic lateness really means.

Dr. Joyce explained those of us who are constantly late not only overestimate the time we have to get somewhere, but oftentimes there is something we dread about the event we are heading to whether it be the people, the conversation, or the situation.

The best advice the Love Doctor gave was to go confidently into each new situation and be ready to have a good time. I’m can’t wait to try this new approach for all the exciting things I have in store this week and finally be on time!

Last week I headed to Stone Mountain to check out the Highland Games and boy was I in for a surprise! It was the perfect setting for the 39th annual Celtic competition and such a gorgeous day. The festivities were complete with kilts, bagpipes, pipe bands, and athletics. What is there not to love?

Not only do the games celebrate the coming together of individuals of Scottish ancestry and keep the Celtic heritage strong, but the event is about everyone enjoying themselves and having a great time!

Being of Celtic ancestry this was especially fun for me and the music sent shivers down my spine. With 29 bands from across the country, I’ll have to brush up on my bagpipes before next year!
